CITY COMMISSION WORKSHOP MEETING

Mayor Bryant called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m.

 

1. MAYOR'S FEED THE HUNGRY KICKOFF

Shirley Pearson, Executive Director Mt. Carmel Resource Center, kicked off the annual Mayors Feed the Hungry event. Visit www.mayorsfeedthehungry.org to learn about the organization and how the program works. The food drive goes from November 11 through the 22nd. On November 23rd all food is combined at the Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota and divided up among the communities who donated. On November 26th, Mt. Carmel will be hosting their food drive to distribute the food to those in need.

 

Mayor thanked Amaris Bank for their huge donation that was left at City Hall for the food drive.

 

 

2. PARKING ALONG 4TH STREET DISCUSSION

Discussed email as attached to the Agenda and the No Parking signs along 4th Street. The amount of signs along 4th Street were discussed and all Commission indicated that better signs could be installed that inform where the parking is and is not allowed.

 

Mr. Burton confirmed that there is plenty of available public parking located on the vacant land on 4th Street the old “Slick’s Garage” property.

 

Commissioner Varnadore stated that the sidewalk that has been broken due to cars parking on it should be repaired and not removed.

 

Staff was asked to take better pictures of 4th Street to include the signs and where they are located in proximity to the businesses on the north side and the residential on the south side. Also, the request was made to highlight on the map where the open public parking is and how many feet it is between that and the Canvas business on the corner of 9th Avenue and 4th Street West.

 

 

Mayor Bryant adjourned the meeting at 5:30 p.m.
